Abstract
With the support of geostatistics and GIS, this study investigated the spatial variability of water-soluble total sugar content and soil fertility factor in a flue-cured tobacco producing area in central Henan Province, with the semi-variance function. The best unbiased linear interpolation was performed by the ordinary Krings method. The result indicated that the average water-soluble total sugar content in flue-cured tobacco leaves from the research regions was 23.82%, with a growing distribution trend from southeast to northwest. The amount of water-soluble sugar in this region’s tobacco leaf was consistent with the exponential model, accompanied by an auto-correlation distance of 39600m. The C0 /C0+C of the semi-variance variogram was 0.16, and the spatial variability was mainly influenced by structural factors. Among the soil fertility factors, total phosphorus, available nitrogen, and available potassium had moderate spatial variability, while soil pH, cation exchange capacity, and organic matter content showed weak spatial variability. The water-soluble total sugar content of tobacco leaves in this area was highly positively correlated with soil pH cation exchange capacity and available potassium, but it had an exceedingly negative correlation with soil available phosphorus, according to the correlation analysis. The findings of this study can provide a basis for the precise fertilizer application in this tobacco-growing area.
