Abstract

This paper describes a new engineering application, in the area ofperimeter intruder detection, of an interferometric fibre optic sensor system. This system was designed originally as a multiplexed fibre optic hydrophone system, for underwater naval applications. To trace the history of the system, and the progress made to date in the area ofunderwater acoustics, see references 1 -3.
