Abstract
In this paper we focus on the detection of moire patterns, which may appear during film-to-video transfer using Telecine devices. A model of moire distortion is created and studied. A new suppression algorithm using the spectral model is presented and applied for real video sequences. The non-linear filter is based on analysis of the magnitude of the Fourier spectrum of the image. As an alternative, an algorithm using parametric identification of the moire patterns is investigated. It is found that spectral domain manipulation gives the best results.
