1 April 2003 Empirical mode decomposition of some nonstationary signals

Abstract
Empirical mode decomposition, or Huang decomposition, is used to extract transition signatures from the nonlinear dynamics of spatially and temporally varying oscillators. Two types of transitions are studied, the delay transition and the Maxwell transition, which correspond in thermodynamics to first and second order phase transitions respectively.
