Abstract
In order to obtain a properly laser beam hardened track, it is necessary to make a careful selection of scanning parameters. The paper gives an initial analysis of the impact of surface temperature and scanning velocity on the hardened track width. The experiment involved laser beam hardening of flat carbon steel specimens.
