Abstract
Recently, there has been a remarkable effort in employing terahertz (THz) spectroscopy for investigating material properties. THz-TDS has been employed to investigate a wide variety of materials, including environment pollutants, semiconductors, polymers, explosive materials, and gases, etc. In this letter, the spectral characteristics of cotton in the range of 0.2~2.5THz have been measured with THz time-domain spectroscopy. Its absorption and refraction spectra are obtained at room temperature in nitrogen atmosphere. It is found that cotton has the spectral response to THz waves in this frequency region. The results provided in this paper will help us to study the THz application to cotton commercial transaction inspection further.
