Abstract
The Office of Naval Research has begun a five year technology development program in high bandwidth lasercom. The program is designed to mature enabling technologies and demonstrate a notional high bandwidth capability to the warfighter. This is a spiral development program, with increasingly automated, capable, and compact systems being demonstrated at the end of each phase. Both direct lasercom links and modulating retroreflector links will be matured during this program.
