Abstract
In this work, the results of a new technique for developing oxygen gas sensors with polymer optical fibers are shown. The transducer is a locally tapered optical fiber with a ruthenium complex directly embedded into the fiber itself. The complete setup is based on a side-illumination scheme in order to get a high signal-to-noise ratio with conventional lowcost optoelectronic devices. Different tests to measure fluorescence intensity spectral distribution, fluorescence lifetime and dynamic response of the sensor have been carried out.
