Abstract
TRW is developing a World Wide Web based hyperspectral remote sensing data archive to provide diverse user communities with easy to use archive search and timely data transfer capabilities. This paper describes our initial version of this archive. Searches can be by geographic area, time interval, and instrument type requirements. Interactive graphical maps help users locate data without requiring specific geographical coordinates. Browse images aid preliminary data content and quality assessment. On-line data transfer is supported, with optional lossy or lossless compression. A specially developed lossy algorithm provides the compression and fidelity needed to support dialup access.
