Abstract
We report on an original detection technique for the design of sensing apparatus, based on the measurement of the total reflectivity of a uniform Bragg grating, which spectral response is modified by an induced linear chirp under strain. The relationship between the total reflectivity and the chirp level is presented for several reflectivities and lengths of the fiber Bragg grating and the influence of the key parameters is analyzed.
