Abstract
In this paper several structures of equalizers for carrierless amplitude-phase (CAP) modulation applied in intensity-modulation direct-detection optical links are compared. Minimax optimization method is applied to seek for equalizer weights. Discussed are: modulation format independent equalizer, CAP specific feed forward equalizer and infinite impulse response equalizer. It is shown that the classical CAP equalizer might be inefficient in terms of resource use.
