Abstract
A direct detection-optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DD-OOFDM) system is studied. The nonlinearity impact of Mach-Zehnder modulator (MZM) on DD-OOFDM transmission is analyzed. Signal to noise ratio (SNR) after MZM is calculated by theory, and proved by simulation. The nonlinearity impact of fiber is analyzed. Pilot-assist (PA) approach based on linear interpolation algorithm is used to smooth channel response and the optimal fiber launch power and MZM modulated depth in this system is obtained.
