Abstract
We have studied the effect of strong statistical dispersion of thermal lensing in laser ceramics. This effect is specific to ceramics and has no analogues either in glasses or crystals. The consequence of this effect is a spatial phase modulation with a characteristic size ofthe order ofa grain size.
