Abstract
In this paper we consider the possibility of improving the accuracy of a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) interrogation system by, instead of using one FBG, using two inscribed on the same location of the fiber with a small difference in the peak wavelength each reflects. Signal processing can be applied to the outputs of photodetectors connected to an arrayed waveguide grating (AWG) to provide a linear response from the sensor. Demonstrated here is that this method reduces errors compared to a single FBG system with the same spectral bandwidth and number of channels from the AWG.
