Abstract
Both cryptography and information hiding (steganography, watermarking and fingerprinting) deal with the protection of data. Both are quite old areas, but cryptography has been studied more precisely. Our purpose is here to compare each of them, and to understand how they can improve each other. We will mainly recall the important concepts of each area, and then confront them.
