Abstract
This paper proposes a simple and low-cost online spray droplet size measurement system. The droplets collected from a spray are video-recorded under a microscope system, and the microscopic images of the droplets extracted from the video are analyzed in real time to obtain the droplets size distribution of the spray. The images are processed into grayscale images and adjusted to avoid the illumination unevenness effect. Iterative blind deconvolution is applied to improve the quality of the blurred image due to droplets movement and defocus. The droplet diameter is calculated and calibrated from the droplet contour circle in the image, so as to statistically obtain the droplets size distribution. The proposed method are verified using a flat fan air-blast atomizer spray, and the results under different gas liquid ratio conditions are analyzed.
