Abstract
Slow strain rate tensile corrosion (SSRT) of B+F X80 pipeline steel in simulated near-neutral and acidic soil solution were investigated. SSRT results show that the stress corrosion of B+F dual phase X80 pipeline steel in acidic soil solution is more sensitive. The loss of section shrinkage and elongation of B+F dual-phase X80 pipeline steel after SSRT in acidic soil solution was 1.49 and 2.62 times of those in near neutral soil solution. In acidic soil solution, the stress corrosion cracking mechanism of X80 pipeline steel is intergranular fracture induced by pitting under corrosion products. Crack nucleates at the bottom of corrosion pit and propagates along the weak path--grain boundary. In near neutral soil solution, the crack is originated from inclusions and propagated mainly transgranularly. Multi-pit connection forms propagation path and some cracks propagate at two stages.
