Abstract
In this paper, a kind of disk curve is constructed and different approaches to degree reduction are discussed. Firstly, to enhance the flexibility of Ball curve, a generalized Ball curve with two shape parameters is defined based on the cubic λμ-Ball basic functions and recursive properties. Then, based on the disk arithmetic, the disk λμ-Ball curve is obtained and some properties are studied. Furthermore, the particle swarm optimization algorithm is used to accomplish the optimization model of degree reduction, which is established by measuring the distance between the two disk curves through L2-norm. Results show that PSO algorithm is an effective tool for degree reduction with different shape parameters.
