Abstract
A low signal-to-noise ratio QAM receiving method based on optical pulse shaping is proposed in this paper. By matching the shape of the optical sampling pulses with the transmitted QAM signal and quantizing with a one-bit electrical ADC, the receiving communication signals are matched filtered. Thus, the transmitting code can be recovered even if the receiving SNR is below the demodulation threshold. In simulations, 4QAM signals with SNR of 0dB are received with the bit-error rate of 1 × 10−2.
