Abstract
We show that high resolution Fourier-transform infrared.. spectroscopy offers new possibilities in the study ofmagnetic ordering in rare earth containing solids. Review of the results on the magnetic compounds related tohigh-T, superconductors and on quasi-one-dimensional rare earth nickelates is presented.
