Abstract
The present paper deals with the conceptual definition of optical diagnostics around an experiment cell with fluid in a facility for observation of fluid physical phenomena in a microgravity environment. The concept comprises video observation of an experiment cell interior, interferometry and IR thermography along two directions and tracer observation with light sheets along three directions for tracer particles observation, in a FOV of 10 X 10 cm2 maximum. The optics will be arranged in various exchangeable modules to attain flexibility for instrument upgrading and ease of maintenance. The selected optical techniques for the diagnostics are reviewed.
