Abstract
An argon ion laser together with mercurochrome reagent is used in the detection of a latent bloody footprint. Fluorescence from a latent bloody footprint sprayed with mercurochrome solution is significantly enhanced relative to that from the background under laser illumination. Absorption spectral and chromatographic study shows that fluorescence enhancement results from the resonance photon absorption in new substances created through chemical reactions between blood and mercurochrome.
