We propose a broadband bismuth-erbium co-doped fiber amplifier (BEDFA) that utilizes a bismuth-erbium co-doped fiber (BEDF) as the gain medium. The amplifier utilizes a simple bidirectional pumping configuration and a shorter length of BEDF to achieve signal amplification in the C+L band.
