The digitization of communication networks has become a global theme, faced with passive transmission network resources, how to achieve digital management and maintenance is a challenge. This paper combines the current digital technology and the actual network condition, to provide a common solution for the digitization of passive transmission network resources, and lays a solid foundation for network intelligence.

The introduction of the F5G concept defines a bright prospects for optical transmission, but there are many difficulties in the networks evolving to F5G. This paper puts forward some ideas for the network evolution of F5G, in order to provide reference for the development of F5G.
With the new services development of 5G transport, cloud-network integration, private line, etc. the existing WDM technology can no longer meet the demand. Next generation WDM system, which has the characters of multi-rate access, low latency, end-to-end orchestrating, tiered service, will be a requisite. In this paper, the technical characteristics of the next generation WDM system will be proposed according to the new services requirements, and the application of the next generation WDM system in network will be discussed.
