From when I first joined a world-class astronomical observatory to my more recent role commissioning NASA’s newest flagship space telescope, I’ve focused on designing, deploying, and operating remote-sensing instrumentation and systems. As an Instrument Scientist for the W. M. Keck Observatory, I managed all aspects of operation and improvements on three advanced remote-sensing imaging spectrometers by engaging with scientists and engineers across a variety of disciplines. I then spent nearly four years leading the Science Commissioning effort for the National Ecological Observatory Network (NEON), a revolutionary “big data” environmental research network, where I collaborated with engineers, ecologists, and remote sensing experts. At Ball Aerospace, I’ve managed the subcontract for the calibration system on the Roman Space Telescope’s main instrument, developed analysis tools and helped execute the complex commissioning effort for the primary mirror system on the James Webb Space Telescope, led a team developing Model Based Systems Engineering templates for new payloads, and contributed to mission designs on multiple programs for Earth observations, defense applications, and astrophysics.
