SC671: Carbon Nanotubes: Properties, Growth, and Applications
Carbon nanotubes, which have attracted a significant amount of research attention in recent years, are promising one-dimensional nanomaterials as building blocks for “bottom-up” assembly of nanoscale devices. This course provides an introduction to carbon nanotubes, focusing on three main subject areas: Properties of carbon nanotubes; growth and assembly techniques; and applications in various fields. Specific topics will include the role of carbon nanotubes in nanotechnology, recent advances in chemical vapor deposition growth and assembly of carbon nanotubes, applications of nanotubes as transistors, electromechanical systems, and chemical sensors, and fabrication methods of nanotube based devices.
